The vintage film movie camera pinata designed and photographed for The 20th Annual San Diego Latino Film Festival 2013.
Statement:
This being the 20th year I wanted to acknowledge and celebrate this milestone as well as all of latino filmmaking. So what better way to do that than by combining the quintessential image of a piñata with that of the most important tool in filmmaking. I took the idea of a movie camera piñata, had it built, photographed it, then designed a poster that reflects the spirit and prestige of the festival. The piñata itself would also look great displayed at the festival.
Note:
The poster was designed at a high resolution to offer an easy translation to the rest of the marketing materials. I included a behind the scenes photo so you can see the size of the piñata.
Bio:
Juan Luis Garcia is a photographer and graphic designer from Southern California. His debut photo exhibition and self-published book, "Cuba Y Cubans", garnered international acclaim and was awarded Blurb's Book of the Month. He works with non-profist such as Voto Latino and was previously a print designer for nuvoTV. He currently works freelance and is available for photography and design projects. www.juanluisgarcia.com
